Dating from just before Elizabeth I came to the throne, this is a sprawling coaching inn on the Bristol to Yate road. Mind your head as you enter the first of two quiet lounge and dining bars. The lawned rear garden - with added play area and resident guinea pigs - is very popular in summer. There are four ever changing real ales, with at least one always coming from the nearby Cotswold Spring Brewery.
